Holly Anton – “Bare Bone”
till the crows call me home I hang between earth and sky
I swing from a single thread, one breath wide
till the crows call me home
I'm asleep in the eye of the storm
I'm a bare bone
I'm a bare bone
calling out the names of the dead to a silent sky
throwing dust to the wind looking for a sign
till the crows call me home
I’m just a thrown stone
I'm a bare bone
I'm a bare bone
when peace fills the sky, my breath falls like rain
the simple truth of you and I wraps around my shoulders
and though I try, I never
remember for long
I'm a bare bone
until the crows call to me
the silver cord that makes your pain mine
flows like an hidden river
through my sleeping mind
the crows they laugh at me, caught inside my head
see me talking to myself, tangled in my own skin
from high in the pines , they cackle like crones
sleepy child you’re tired & cold
won’t you come home?
under a canopy of wings and sky, nothing’s born and never dies
we’re a swinging door, our breath nests like sea and shore
till the crows call me home
I’m driftwood in sea foam
I’m a bare bone
I’m a bare bone
