Blink Twice

by Joey Cirillo, Dylan Nash (San Joseph)

Good to see you grew out of me,

With the polar opposite of my personality,

He seems confident, way more tolerant,

And with his hand around your waist, maybe this one’s here to stay,

No, wait! Was that you tugging on my sleeve?

Putting out an SOS without causing a scene?

Hey, I know you can’t say anything,

But if that meant ‘rescue me’, then I’ll fake an emergency,

Something here don’t feel right,

If you’re not fine, gimme a sign,

I see it in those sad eyes, and if I’m right,

Blink twice,

Should I assume, you wore that perfume,

The one I bought you for your 21st birthday,

So that I’d realise, you’re wearing a fake smile,

Everything you’re not saying’s giving off distress signs,

While he’s buying you drinks,

You start packing your things,

And as you turn to me,

Hope I didn’t misperceive it as a hint to leave,

Something here don’t feel right,

If you’re not fine, gimme a sign,

I see it in those sad eyes, and if I’m right,

Blink twice,

I know you too well,

To know you're not yourself,

Around him, let's get outta here,

And right before you know it,

We’re escaping in slow motion,

He won’t notice,

Something here don’t feel right,

If you’re not fine, gimme a sign,

I see it in those sad eyes, and if I’m right, Blink twice
